The Department of Buildings (DOB) issues a Stop Work Order when it finds a violation of the Administrative Code or Zoning Resolution of the ҹȤ´«Ã½. No work may occur at the site until DOB issues an order to rescind.

The Stop Work Order contains instructions on how to schedule a site reinspection and request an order to rescind the Stop Work Order.

Check the  to see if a site was recently issued a a Stop Work Order or had one rescinded.

You can report work being done while a stop work order is in effect.

What Happens Next

The Department of Buildings issues violations when appropriate.

To request an inspection to rescind a partial or full Stop Work Order (PSWO or SWO) related to construction safety, you should complete a Construction Safety Enforcement Appointment Request Form and send it to CSEappointments@buildings.nyc.gov.
